Wild Ikebana

In this series on local flora, artist Panita S. depicts in a highly personal way the subtle climatic and ecological changes, and thus the fragility and transience of the landscape throughout the year. These gradual changes are marked in the East Asian calendar as microseasons. There are 72 microseasons in total.

Panita S. gathered wildflowers during summer walks and arranged them into floral arrangements. Not a traditional ikebana, but rather a "wild ikebana," a poetic ritual that serves as an ode to time, place, and the often-overlooked rhythms of nature and the wilderness around us.

Panita S. is an artist originally from Bangkok who lives and works in Hasselt, where she graduated from PXL MAD. Her art reflects her fascination with nature and her unique ability to combine the conventional with the wild, creating installations that transform spaces into immersive sensory experiences. She infuses her creations with botanical arrangements, edible installations, and scent narratives that invite the audience to journey through memory and time. Panita's work is an ode to the transience of the seasons and the fragile beauty of nature.
